Skylar Schellin

Ministry Intern

My Story

I was raised up from childhood outside church, with my religious beliefs being most akin to Deism. I hated God and wanted nothing to do with Him. My family began attending church in 2016 where I began to take part in the membership class. I had come with them to both the Sunday service and the class, mostly to avoid the trouble of disappointing them, I did not desire to become a member, nor a Christian. The pastor, who would become one of my closest friends, began to teach us what the Gospel is. I repented, believed in Christ alone, and now walk with Him. Two years after I was saved, I realized that I wanted to enter ministry, to spend all my time in the Bible, to share the gospel with those who haven’t repented, and to help believers grow in their knowledge and love of the gospel, just as my pastor did for me.

While I was taking classes to become a pastor in my undergrad, I was surrounded by lost, unbelieving students who were filled with stress and didn’t know their purpose in life. I frequently reached out to them with the gospel but with no support, and no other Christians I knew on campus. Eventually, I was found by a college ministry, giving me brothers and sisters to grow alongside with and to partner with for sharing the gospel. After my four years of undergrad, I started classes in seminary, where I met Collegiate Impact, joined them, and received an invite to an internship so that I can have a Kingdom Impact by serving to take the gospel forward.

My Role

As a Collegiate Impact intern, I will be taking on the role of student president at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to provide organizational leadership and direction to our group members, make our presence known on campus and to recruit new members from the Seminary. I will also be joining our group members on multiple campuses to assist in outreach and other activities. Some of the campuses I may help at include community colleges, like Maplewoods and Blue Spring, or Universities like Park University or University of Missouri Kansas City.
